Dental implants are one of the best restorative tools at a dentist’s disposal. It’s the only restorative method which replaces the very root of a tooth, providing unmatched stability and support for a restoration to sit on top.
One of the most common questions patients ask about dental implants — even before they know if they’re suitable candidates — is how much the procedure costs. That’s why we’ve put together this quick guide to understanding the costs involved in this procedure.
Basic Cost of a Dental Implant
The cost of a single dental implant ranges from $3,500 to $6,000.
This pricing includes:
The pricing is for a single implant, but the price is a range rather than a fixed price. There are several factors which include:
Additional Costs of Dental Implants
Before a dental implant can be placed, a 3D scan of the jawbone needs to be conducted. For the dentist to determine whether it’s possible to place an implant into the jaw and if so, where to insert it for
maximum efficacy, the dentist will require a 3D scan of the jawbone before implants can be placed. This scan is not included in the price of a dental implant and can cost between $180 and $300. Only after this scan is done can the dentist work out the full cost of the implant procedure.
Implants can be used to support a wide range of restorations. From implant-supported bridges to
implant-supported dentures, you can replace anywhere from one to all of your teeth with dental
implants.
The cost of these procedures will change depending on how many implant units are needed,
whether you’re adapting an existing restoration or creating a new one, and whether bone grafting is needed to help create sufficient jaw volume.
For example an “All-on-4” style treatment, using as few as four dental implants per arch of teeth to
replace all of your teeth, can cost over $20,000.
